What is your educational background? I studied at the State University of New York at Buffalo for my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Financial Analysis Concentration.
Why did you choose this program? The well-designed curriculum will equip me with the necessary financial modeling techniques, and strong analytical and data skills, to qualify me to become a professional financial analyst. The courses will prepare me to sit for the CFA examinations and obtain the CFA charter, offering me more edge in my future job search. Also, the Capstone Project provides an opportunity to work on real-life finance problems with local industry partners, improving my problem-solving skills while developing my soft skills, such as leadership and cross-cultural communication skills. I will also have the option to apply for up to 36 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT) upon graduation as the program is STEM-designated, which will be especially attractive to companies interested in providing immigration sponsorship.
What is your favorite thing to do in Madison or what is your favorite part about living in Madison? Madison is known for its beautiful lakes, parks, and outdoor recreational opportunities. I enjoy activities like kayaking, hiking, biking, and picnicking. The city has a vibrant cultural scene with museums, art galleries, theaters, and live music venues.
What has been your favorite class or what are you most looking forward to taking? Finance 730 (Derivative Securities – Theory and Practice) provides me with the opportunity to enter the world’s financial markets, which are dynamic and affected by a variety of factors, including economic data, geopolitical events, and investor sentiment. The ever-changing nature of these markets can be intellectually stimulating.
What are your career aspirations? The financial services industry is where my interests and career pursuit lie.
