What is your educational background? I had my undergraduate education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana and I majored in Economics. I graduated with a BA in Economics. After my undergraduate education, I worked with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in Ghana, I also did my national services as a teacher in ICT and Economics. Then, I started my firm which provides research, data analysis services, and a marketplace in Ghana.

Why did you choose the MSFE program at UW-Madison? MSFE provides the STEM approach to gaining higher knowledge in financial derivatives, investments theory and practice, and econometrics. Most importantly the ability to use Python, MATLAB, and other modern software programming languages to model financial and economic decisions really motivated me  to choose the course.

What is your favorite thing to do in Madison or what is your favorite part about living in Madison? I love the serene nature of Madison and, most importantly, the breeze of Lake Mendota, also, I have been on the Dells’ Boat ride. The Terrace at Memorial Union provides a great leisure experience with the Kayaking. Very wonderful view.

What has been your favorite class or what are you most looking forward to taking? I can’t say there is one favorite class, even though I can point out that one that I am excited to take is Financial Derivatives and Investment Theory and Practice. Likewise, Econometrics is one I have much interest in as well. I look forward to taking Financial Econometrics and Machine Learning for Economists.

What are your career aspirations? My career aspirations can be structured into 2; short and long goals. In the short terms, I desire to work in roles such as Economist or Financial analyst. The long-term goal is to receive my PhD in Economics or Finance. This is going to help me to make an impact in the field of Economics and Finance. Achieving a doctoral degree in Economics would be a life-long goal and using the knowledge and experience to impact positively on the world of investment and economic policy.
