MSFE 2025 Cohort Student Headshot, Yiyang Cao

I had a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance and a bachelor’s degree in business administration. My undergraduate background gave me a solid foundation, but I realized I needed a broader economic perspective to understand market dynamics and business strategies. This program at UW-Madison is practical, data-driven focus will equip me to analyze trends, policies, and investments, taking my career to the next level. I look forward to taking advanced econometrics with Professor Bruce Hansen.

In the short term, I aim to work as a financial analyst in investment banking, focusing on M&A transactions and market strategy.  Long-term, I aspire to become a financial strategist, specializing in advising global corporations on optimizing investments and navigating complex market dynamics.  UW-Madison’s curriculum and research opportunities will play a pivotal role in equipping me with the skills and knowledge to achieve these goals.

Madison is known as the Lakes City. I want to take a walk by the lake in my spare time and breathe in the fresh air in the fall.
